Features7-Channel Power Amplifier:The Marantz MM8077 seven-channel power amplifier delivers power and detail, and is rated at 150 watts (into 8-ohms, at 20-20k, with 0.08%, driving 2 channels) and 180 watts (into 6-ohms, at 20-20k, with 0.08%, driving 2 channels). The MM8077 power amp matches perfectly with the Marantz AV-8801 home theater preamp/processor (642AV8801, sold separately).Current Feedback Discrete Amplifier Design:Featuring Marantz’s unique current feedback discrete power amp output stages (with “push-pull circuitry) that are identical for all channels, the MM8077 is equipped with multiple high-current discrete power transistors that feature high slew rate along with low impedance drive capability, for maximum operating bandwidth and solid performance in order to extract the most detail from today’s high resolution audio formats.Copper Chassis w/Aluminum Resin Front-Panel:
The copper-plated chassis provides isolation from extraneous noise, and features a multi-layer reinforced bottom panel assembly for maximum rigidity along with triple-layer top cover. The power amp’s front-panel features a combination of aluminum extrusion and glass-reinforced resin which shields internal circuitry and absorbs internal and external resonances. The MM8077 features the classic Marantz ringed porthole display with a blue illumination accent that includes a display on/off function.
High Power, High Current Power Supply:
The high power, high current power supply features a massive toroidal power transformer along with high power (71WVDC) filter capacitors with a total 100,000µF capacitance that provides substantial headroom for dynamic peaks along with the ability to handle lower impedance speaker loads.
Highly Efficient Heat Dissipation:The output devices are mounted on a dual extruded aluminum alloy heat sink assembly, configured in a tunnel arrangement that provides both passive and active cooling. The massive heat sinks feature multiple ribbed fins that provide a large passive cooling area, and the assembly is book-ended with a whisper quiet fan that automatically kicks in to provide near silent active cooling when the soundtrack heats up. As the fan is mounted internally directly to the heat sinks (and not externally to the chassis cover as is often the case) even when it’s running, it’s designed to be whisper quiet.Unbalanced (RCA) & Balanced (XLR) Inputs:For maximum connectivity, the MM8077 features both unbalanced (RCA) and balanced (XLR) inputs for each of the seven channels. Each amp channel can be configured to use your choice of input connector.Binding Post Speaker Terminals:
The Marantz MM8077 is fitted with seven pair of binding-post speaker terminals. The binding-post terminals feature audiophile-grade construction, and are gold-plated for maximum signal transfer, and they can easily handle a wide range of audiophile speaker cable connectors (such as bare wire, single banana plugs, and pin-connectors).
DC Control:
The MM8077 features DC trigger input/outputs (3.5mm) for external power on/off control. The DC trigger input allows the MM8077’s power to be controlled by another device (5-15V). The DC Trigger output allows the MM8077 to control the power of another compatible device (12V/44mA).
Remote Power Control:Dual RC-5 remote control in/out RCA jacks allow for connection to a compatible Marantz components. When a compatible Marantz preamp is connected, this unit’s power can be switched on and off simultaneously with the preamp. The RC-5 input is connected to the preamp, and the RC-5 output can be connected to other compatible Marantz components; CD player, DVD player, Tuner, etc.Flasher Input:The IR flasher input is useful with universal remote controls; power and mute remote codes are available for the MM8077.Low-Power Standby Mode:For environmental and energy-saving considerations, power consumption during standby mode has been reduced to less than 0.4 W.
Auto-Standby Mode:
The MM8077 automatically switches to standby mode when there has been no signal for approximately 30 minutes. This prevents power from being wasted whenever you forget to turn the power off
